Would Have Killed

and you know what I know
why would you think to do this to me
a reason so simple
you could never dream the answer

could I have seen this inner you
and touched its face for ever a brief moment
and standing back, now so detached from you
I realize why you didn't want me there

I would have killed if just this one time
time was on our side

to just the shadow of your face
