Doghouse Blues

I met a girl from the north side
She lit a flame inside of me
I got lost insider of her blue eyes
And I knew, I was troubled bound

I kissed her in Portland City
We crashed in the doghouse for the night
We said goodbye and I promised I would try
And we parted ways along the great divide

They called me crazy
They said I wasn't right
And I told myself to not put up a fight
I got a greyhound ticket
On a midnight hayride
Going nowhere, nowhere

I just can't shake the doghouse blues

I packed a bag and took the greyhound
Sipping on whiskey on the way
Riding through the night until the morning light
To a station down the state line far away

Years went by and we got older
I see the girl now and then
I'm not bitter but I just had to quit her
Take me to the doghouse once again
