Lost in Thought

moments of sorrow falling like rain
distances past and returned again
colors of heartache stir beneath
layers of numbness and spreading disease

ghosts of my fear echo the thought
rising unbidden into my mind
shadows of heartache hidden by time
failing memory of darkness wrought

given a choice i'd rather not take
breath of a soul forced to break
try to forgive but cannot forget
echoes of pain must exist

pale words upon white skin
showing crimson drops of sin
rivers of heartache on the edge
