Subterranean

Rays of light
Fall onto my skin
But I feel no warmth

Lost in the white
Once I loved one here
But now I'm all alone

I turn away
From the sun that shines on me
Cold dark embrace
As the shadows fall
I know I won't return

Leaves coat the ground
Leaving trees stripped bare
They shiver in the cold

Rocks at my feet
As the fog engulfs
I leave this life behind

Liberation in the darkness
My salvation from the sunlight

As I crawl into the depths
Isolation now bereft
How the void consumes my thoughts
Wilted form I now am lost

Alone I make my way
To the cavern, to my grave
O, darkness take me

I turn away
