Imprisoned Between Worlds

Barren land meets restless waters
Overcast skies dome above
I stand

On pebbled, bone-speckled shorelines
Where beings once thrived
I lumber
Sprayed by mist of waters old as Earth
Perhaps I'm cleansed
Of sins forgotten

Up above rumble the heavens
Moments before being torn in half

A laceration of blinding light
That signals Their arrival

Had the urge to pray not left my conscious mind
I might have had a chance at redemption
But Time accepts neither prayers nor oblations

The rusty iron shackles sting my gaunt wrists
And I remain
Imprisoned between worlds
