Friends & Foes

I travel down a long dark tunnel
Light at the end is growing dimmer and dimmer
Then suddenly a bright light
Awake but trapped inside my own mind

Body numb, can't move, can't scream
Voices around me start talking
About cutting me open
See them leaning over me
Smiling and joking
While they're slicing me apart

I don't want to be a victim
Of some science experiment
Clinging to sanity by a thin thread

I am the pupil in the eye of the needle
Stitching up my seams with visible debt
The sutures hold me together
And I bear witness to my own dismemberment

From deep within this well of consciousness
I watch them sculpt and mold
Shaping me into something new
A work in progress, a blank canvas

Induced by a strange feeling
I'm emanating from within myself
I sit up and survey my surroundings
Humans trapped in awe

Friends and foes
Living the same fate
Indoctrinated by a higher power

For the first time I feel alive
A thin needle puts me to sleep
