The Breaking Point

The burden shifts
Assuming new malignant forms
With every loss
Another wound to be borne
A growing sense
A claustrophobic scene
We felt the pull, falling back
To the spaces in between

We descend
To depths hitherto unknown
Beset by stabbing blades so finely honed
Injuries compound
By many hands restrained
Every tiny cut leaves us further drained

On sorrow's spectrum
A matter of degrees
The breaking point
It's the hardest place to be

Lost in a haze
Precious time slips away
Reduced to the essentials
To survive another day
Bear the weight
With the tensile strength of steel
A sad refrain
How can all of this be real?

Events collapse
Cannot stop the bleed
A rush of storming stress at such high speed
Holding on for life
When every door is barred
A downward force that pulls so very hard
