Cruel Summer

I've got salt on my lips, it's not from the drinks
Though I've had a lot, I still can't help but think
No one can see your tears in the pool
How could this summer be so cruel?

A lousy vacation, the pain's not really gone
Took my emotional baggage as a carry-on
In Hawaiian shirts cause it's too hot to wear black
I'll take the next flight if you'll call and take me back

Laying here for days, and my skin is burnt so red

Looking at the sea, and it's such a pretty view

The sun is out to play, but I'm not having fun
I'm still just regretting everything I could have done
I try to have a good time, at least we're out of school
