๐ Lyrics
Johnny, tell me about when you got into the band, long have been?
About a year and a half ago (okay)
The I guess, you know after
Whatever happened with the old bass player
These guys did search and eventually they did an open audition in Chicago
And I just shut up and stood in line and (no kidding eh)
I mean they shouldn't pretty wide open? (Yeah we)
There about three to four hundred people in that line that day
We knew that, you know, we've known John over the years
Just crossing pass on the road with, with his old band and that's be on
Name of the band Union Underground
Yeah, I read that
So we had known each other but
And we knew that he was interested in the position, but we didn't
You know, we were, we weren't ready to hand, hand it over to anybody
We want to see who's going to raise the bar
And who's going to show up
And step up and show us why they deserve
And John kind of came out unannounced and stood in line with everybody else
And waited his turn and walked up on stage didn't even say nothing
I don't think at first he just walked up
We all look at him were like, "Hey, it's John, wait a second"
You know he just nailed apart and he just
You know great performer and great player
Now that sort of American Idol asked when he got these
People coming oh my God (oh yeah)
Who are base players
We, they had one
They do their best zipline
The verse and a course that was it and then add it was (oh, yeah)
You kept it pretty tight, huh
Yeah, well we had to go through, like I said
About three to four hundred (oh my god)
It's pretty fair to do it that way, I mean
I'm sure his Little Chorus but
But the same time these guys were fair
Because they gave everybody a chance (yeah)
Even though we, you know
When people only got a verse and chorus
We were still there for a good 14 hours (oh yeah)
They're trying to get everybody in
I was just gonna say two, three hundred people, that that's gotta take all day (yeah)
Oh, yeah, it took me just eight hours, and I was like
I think I was in line for about seven or eight hours
And I was you know maybe numbers 65, 67 in line (it was brutal)
Do you get a bathroom break at some point?
Can you lose your spot in life
That's it, you're done you know
It's either hold it or you're out (so alright)
Land of confusion, nice job on that one guys (thank you very much)
Very, very different and
Does Phil Collins make any money off that or what?
Yeah, it's ends up doing the business, so probably make something
A couple of, a couple of coins here and there
Not to too shabby and of course
Fade to black, you guys did a nice version of that yourself (thank you)
We were playing that back, you know what buddy, two years ago right for the
They did a weapons (yeah)
Music was alive, see that we put out and
Fade to black, was on there you guys
Have you always done that song?
No, no, just lifted that one, one day
No, no, we just we wanted to introduce one of our other songs
Live and kind of put it in the right light, just kind of conveyed everybody
The spirit and which we wrote the song and so we segued into it and track called
Darkness off of the believer record and we segue into it from halfway through
Fade to Black, the kind of show everybody where it was coming from
About a year and a half ago (okay)
