A Distant Shore

I could see the drowning souls on the bay
It didn't seem real to me
A fire rose, consuming the calm
Burning bridges, affecting all who walked across the land
To listen but not hear, to watch but not see, to embrace but not feel
This was the curse bestowed upon me
Limbs too weak to tread, shattered expressions filled with dread
I will never be at peace

I have been wandering, through this dark void
No one to guide my way into unchartered waters
Now I lose sight, I don't know which way to turn but I'm on my way
I have lessons learned
