When I Was Idle

Idle was the inside, beaten was my path
That weather turned so quick
I could feel the outcome bearing on my tracks
I wasn't ready for it

So I had to pace myself
Stagger what was left with vigilance
And think of somewhere else
To satiate my mind
To focus on a point
I thought I'd left behind

These, the hours I was left
The moments at my side
They said would never last
But still I had to try, try
