Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats
Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl,
cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light
and fluffy. This can be done with a hand mixer
or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment
Add Egg and Vanilla:
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Make sure to scrape down the sides of the
bowl to incorporate all the ingredients evenly
Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl,
whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt
Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture,
mixing just until combined.
Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the cookies tough
Shape the Cookies:
Scoop out portions of the dough using a cookie scoop or by rolling it
into 1-inch balls.
Place them on the prepared baking
sheets, leaving some space between each cookie
Optional Decoration: If desired,
you can press the cookies down gently with a fork or decorate
them with colored sugar, sprinkles, or a dusting of powdered sugar
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the
edges are lightly golden. Keep an eye on them to prevent over-baking
Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few
minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely
