Empty Heart

My longing for rest
Companionship, friends of mine attest
Every few years, I fly too close to the sun
But I know
That her words
Keep me warm

I tell myself that I need this chapter to start
Lord knows that He's reading
This book to me
I've prayed the Lord covers her heart and He continues to
Sanctify mine

I feel lost in a sea of faces
I want to connect but I don't see a way
I float from person to person
With small threads of my soul
Pulling
Towards
Hope

I am guiding many to peace
But I cannot seem to enter
The guide that must walk back alone
From his memories
With an empty heart
