half-light

Sittin on the bed, I turn and look at the wall
Somethins movin, I wonder if it'll come if I call
In the shadows, something beckons to me
To steal me away, that I might see

In the half-light, I rise
To the shape that draws my eye
Eclipse my sight
As it fades into the night

Outside the dark is so clear that it calls
Me from yellow presses and grimy walls
Now I turn and look away
And so the night makes its escape

Yet long after it has gone
Still it leads me on
Sitting deep inside
Unseen behind my eyes
