When I was a young boy
Playing with my brothers at the shallow bog
We'd collect some insects
And see if we could catch one of the singing frogs
My brother held the dragonfly
Just above the surface where the frogs had swam
And then out of the water
Jumped this fragile creature across the lily pad
But then I caught it too hard
And then it died in my hand

Once I walked alone
Silent through the valley of the Summer's land
I came to the rainbow
Dissolving from cement into a pile of sand
Waiting there, a golden stone
A secret shining message for all to see
But there, inside the cobweb
A struggling butterfly is trying to be free
I grabbed it softly with both hands
And then I let go
