Sunblock

I remember shooting fireworks in the backyard of the summer house
I guess they were legal in Massachusetts
My eyes filled with wonder watching the sparks fly over the lake
I had to cover my ears 'cause they were sensitive
Those were the days, those were the best days
Feeling good and like myself all summer long
When the summer was over, I was sad to return to school
Oh man oh man, How my opinions on that have changed

Life filled with childlike innocence
Summer breaks filled with playing and make pretend
The hot sun makes sweat drip from my head
I stopped using sunblock about a year ago
I'm just too lazy
And if I get skin cancer, well I guess that's just shit luck

This year, the weeks and days have flowed like molasses
My eyes stayed glued to my too-foggy glasses
These days I take long drives to nowhere in particular
I've run out of directions to go
