Leaves pitch like kites across a green sky
A great river flows nearby

There I am in my state in my town
There I am in my backyard
Spade patting ghost worms down
Back into their corridors, new salted with bone

Here I go calling out your name
At three AM this first night, hard frost
Two of us facing off
