Christmas Number One

Christmas is coming and I have to admit
I'm not really feeling the holiday spirit
Yeah Christmas is coming and it has to be said
All I've got this season is existential dread

No gifts under the tree in my living room
Just a long distance hangout with my friends over Zoom
No I can't go see my family but try to think of the positives
No more awkward dinner conversations
With problematic relatives

Maybe next year
We'll have a happy holiday
But Christmas has always been
A little awful anyway

Too worried about rent to think about a secret Santa
Save the fiver you'd have spent
And the cheesy party banter
No we won't be socialising
With old pals that we grew up with
But at least you won't run into
Your messy ex at a New Years shindig

A little stressful anyway

I know things can get lonely at this time of year
But here's what's bringing me
A little bit of festive cheer

No one to nag me about my weight
No questioning who I want to date
No exhausting rants about politics

No dated sitcom TV shows
No rubbish vegan option woes
No judging me for how I choose to live
