Distant Ships

Not so much a day for talking
Just be near me
You don't have to hear me
Say what you know
But listen to the wind blow
Through the trees
The symphony of leaves
Surrounded by
The ocean and the sky

If we wait
Just one more hour
Will the tide get our sandy feet wet?
Or will we take our blanket and make
For higher ground
And listen for the sound
Of distant ships
