So history unwinds
Reveals another piece of time
And all your alcohol born dreams
Well they're not as real as mine
Now the puzzle doesn't fit
So we'll force it till it does
Till the boundaries have blurred
And till they move it in reverse
And I'll stop worrying about the same things
That I once did as a child
And all the while I'm drinking poison
With my eyes open wide
And I've forgotten every word
To songs my father used to sing
I've been so scared about the future
All the change that it will bring

So I turn my back on lovers
And I set off down this road
And the pen, it hits the paper
And the story book unfolds
Except, I have no control
The end is inevitable
It may not yet be written
But I'm braced for the fall
I start to think of friends I've lost
And I start to feel small
