Biggest Rift

It's closing in
On closing time,
And next to you,
I'll drink so fast I'll break my arm;
And in a perfect world,
I'd fall down spinning;
You'd pick me up by my good hand as we walk home.

So, I assume, this is easiest,
But I'm not gonna take this very well.

And I, I, I know I'll divide
This biggest rift;
And as I make
All the right mistakes,
I know I'll relive them falling.

It's down to this,
And up to you,
'cause we could drag
Another year between us both
Just out of deference
And go down fighting.
But it's a round I can't pursue with a sense of pride.

So, I assume, this is easiest,
