I went out by the shadow well
That broods out back dark and alone
I stopped, stared where images dwell
Cautious, I seek the shadow well

I leaned head back till almost fell
Saw water where image was born
My familiar face in the krell
More to see in the shadow well

Want to see where the future dwells
Down in the shadow well

There t'were no sounds 'cept falling leaf
I turned my head to see nothing
T'was nothing standing behind me
T'were no reason to believe

Want to see where the future dwells
Down in the shadow well
My head turned back to the wall
That glow'd her shade and apparitions

Now I know too much and I quell
More to see in the shadow well
