Pastel Dust

I pray you don't stand on ceremony
For every valley we'll ever get to see
Pursuant to something that I feared we'd not find

All rain is hail
& it softens swirling pearlescently away
Making a plea to the rooftops
& gazing over the edge of what I meant to say

Will anything be sacred
If you take nothing as given
Like riving a dress just to make a few ribbons

May you never know
The depth of loss like this again
Reform grief to grace
& the marrow shivers will relent with time

I envy the fulsome resolve I lack
From this loathing in the rut
Forevermore not going back
Nevada silver in pastel dust
