Piper: In the air Althea seemed to her lame old father king darius to be an offense to nature, and her warrior brother and the future king prince alexander received all of the peoples' love, and so with me, the orphan piper, she was locked in the tower, and forgotten

Thuelen: To the east of Lagobell was its enemy, Sealand, a realm of bountiful rivers ruled by the tyrant king ignathio, who hungered after Lagobell's gold, one day his wife questioned his greed, then mysteriously died, the people did not dare weep
Even though the queen is dead there is no woe in our blue land
Thuelen: But little prince Digby did cry, as his mother went to heaven his laughter followed her, and from that day Digby's heart was so heavy, he never smiled

Thuelen: As he grew up he never put a foot wrong, and his father saw in him nothing but a warrior, no one pitited Digby or me, his brother Thuelen, except for the king's falconer who gave the sad soldier our late mother's falcon
