Trench Wraith

Formless entity appears above gunfire
Engulfing the crowded trenches whole
Entire companies massacred in its black smoke
Torn apart ripping limbs off of their mangled corpses

Until the dead of nightfall
Pray to see dawn
Its form lit by flare-light
The trench wraith slithers on

This beast of war swirling death above our frontlines
Picking apart those unfortunate to be left alive
No escape for it can sense all of our movement
Unprejudiced in its chaos we've been thrust in

Draped in gore, of our fallen brothers
At war before now, we stand in horror
The entire front, crushed into soft pink powder
Deliver us, O' God in our dying hour
