Parting Gift

Had a dream last night that you were sitting staring into space
Across from you we all continued on as if nothing had changed
I consider it a parting gift as you went on your way
Though the dream will surely fade
I know the feeling will remain

Opened up a box a pictures I had almost thrown away
Quick to disregard the details when it was our every day
Like that storm on our vacation you so willingly embraced

Not a semblance self-frustration or dispondence on your face
You were seemingly content though we were walking in the rain
Though the memory will fade

I've been slow to disregard things that no longer have a place
I've had trouble understanding things you never did explain
I remember all the bad but I still miss you every day
