I pulled on my wintercoat and I ran into the falling snow
My mind was blank, my eyes were blind, I didn't know where I would go
But I knew that letter she sent to me was a pack of lies
Or so it seemed.

I parked my Oldsmobile outside a cracked, one-eyed motel
Where everyone in town is on the way to somewhere else
I was scared, when I thought to myself,
"Have the last two years just been a dream?"

I bathed in shallow, wishing waters
Till I was caught in a riptide
Tangled up in the chains of old mines and driftwood
I saw the light like a solitary star and reached for it
But I was to be drawn deeper
