๐Ÿ“œ Lyrics

Well, I tell you what I done
I have always loved Lily Tomlin
And she's playing in town
And I got dressed in all this garb about four o'clock today so I could go see her show
And we barely got out and got back in time
So, I apologize for sneaking through the back door, but it was worth it

In case you don't recognize that song, I don't want you to feel bad
Because I have no earthly idea what that is
Now, that's a song called "There's No Place Like Home"
And a lot of people have asked me since I've been here this week
What the instrument is I'm playing
This is called "A Dulcimer"
And it's mainly a mountain instrument
This is the kind of instruments we used to use to sing the old-timey mountain folk songs back home

And I grew up in some of the most beautiful part of the country in the world, I think
The Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee
I grew up in a family of 12 kids
We got six girls and six boys in our family
And where every one sung like a songbird
Some of us like a buzzard
Now but anyway, I remember we used to love to sing more than anything

And so through the years, I think the songs that I write
Kind of carry that old-timey, Smoky Mountain flavor
And I'd like to do a few of those songs for you now
And if you'll excuse me just a second, a little note to our sound man
If you'd turn my monitors up just a little, I might-, can save my old throat. Okay?
