Next to Nothing

I'm drawing lines
I'm drawing lines on paper
They start to look like smoke
I see them turn to vapor
They go right off the page
And slip into my mind
And when i sleep at night
A constant stream of lines

Now i'm painting
Now i'm painting pictures
But i dont use the brush i do it with my fingers
I like the feel of canvas
I like to touch my paint
I'm painting burning buildings

I try my hand
I try my hand in sculpture
I take a lump of clay
I turn it into something
It stands all by it self
A monument to culture
I stand beside myself
And still im next to nothing
