Regret

Years gone by searching for some relief
The release of my mind but it's not there for me
The wisdom of time will reveal to me
But will I be able to set myself free?
What bars can hold what's inside
Stuck in the prison of my mind

How long til I see the light
How much time is left to do what's right
Still, still I try to find
What was left behind
Those days not far away
Searching for the words to say
Something to make it feel ok
Still I seem to come up blank

Who holds the key
When will I be
Free from this pain
And misery

So many times I said the wrong thing
So many times I ended up regretting
Laying awake playing it over
Years later still nothing to show for it
