This Good Place

Here I am
Standing in the open
Unguarded, yet unafraid
The world is softened through the veil of tears I've cried
Over what's been done, and what's been said
What will your reaction be?
Will you close your eyes, turn away from me?
Do you sense my surprise at the touch of your hand

Here I stand
Under old familiar branches
Sighing leaves bid welcome to straying feet
It is good here. how could I have left
How could you have waited so patiently
Softly I can hear you calling
I dash to unlock the doors one by one
With hurried hands I throw open the gates
To allow you in, to make room for the Son

In the silence of the night I call you
Underneath the shelter of a warm summer sky
Waiting to see my reflection, in your eyes

I have wings and I am speeding through the heavens
Unencumbered by a hollow, token life
There is nothing, there is no one, left to accuse me
I bid farewell to this spinning dying world

You and I with our entourage of angels
Stroll past the mansions in this good place
I reach out with innocent hands
To touch your face
