๐Ÿ“œ Lyrics

Come in, ye weary wanderers,
and have yourselves a drink!
You'll find the roads are not as safe
tonight as you may think;
A heedless horseman passed me by
here not an hour agoโ€“
Come grab a pint, and heed ye well,
this tale of good ol' Death 'n' Woe!

He told me that he was a
highwayman of some renown,
downed a drink, and bolted
like black thunder from our town
On the road he spied an
ornate carriage, picked it for his prey
But as you'll see his quarry
brought him nothing but dismay

As he cried, "your money
or your life will soon be mine,
stand and deliver me my fine!"

The horseman rode his black mare
on and 'twixt them closed the range,
but once nearby the coach, he gasped!
and noticed something strange:
He saw that there was naught but bone
where there should have been wood,
and realized he saw no face
beneath the driver's hood...

The cart was lit by candles
placed inside two ghastly skulls
And stench of rotting flesh
was emanating from its hull
The driver laughed and cracked
a cruel whip made of human spine,
and said, "I've heard your offer, boy,
but fear I must decline!

"So keep your money,
but your life is mine,
You've crossed me, lad,
and now you'll pay the fine!"

A dullahan is out this night,
so don't go out alone
Roaming through these streets
upon his carriage made of bone
So find yourselves another night
to quest for fame and gold,
or by tomorrow morn 'twill be
your story being told!

So now you know just how
the horseman came to meet his end:
I hear they found him by the road,
his eyes plucked from his head
Some crows descended on his corpse,
as off his stallion fled
They made a roomy nest out of
the fool's own empty head

The dullahan rode his way on
past mountain, dale, and farm,
a grin upon the head he carried
cradled 'neath his arm
He planned to spread his tales of gore
there at Unseelie Court,
but stopped to pick off mortals
here and there, just for his sport

So mind ye well, on moonless nights,
to heed the words I say;
You're welcome back,
as long as you can pay!

A dullahan is out this night,
so don't go out alone
Roaming through these streets
upon his carriage made of bone
So find yourselves another night
to quest for fame and gold,
or by tomorrow morn 'twill be
your story being told!

So have a glass of stout
and leave your sorrows at the door,
You'll feel much better once you've tasted
what this tavern has in store
There'll still be fiends and monsters,
gold and glory to be won,
so before you get yerselves all killed,
come stay and yourselves some fun!

A dullahan is out this night,
so don't go out alone
Roaming through these streets
upon his carriage made of bone
Find another night for glory;
oh, it would be such a shame
if later on this eve you heard him
calling out your name!
