For me and my barefoot blues

I'm spending money like water
And drinking life like wine
But it's a big old bed in a lonesome house
Unhappiness all I find

Once I danced in the sunshine
I used to laugh at the rain
Did the belly-rub with all kinds of men
Lord I'd love to do it again

But in this sea of scorn & laughter
I look for the silvery moon
But there's no one but me and my lonely key
A bare bulb rented room

I'm going down to the river
Gonna have me a little swim
An autumn flower in the frozen rain
Can't believe the state I'm in

And one seemed worse than two
When that anybody turned to nobody
And left me to my barefoot blues
