Ever the Optimist

Loss of control
The gears twist and the clock turns
Ever the optimist 'til
The clouds roll in and the bridges burn
The aggravation of drawing blood out
From the stone
We've hit the bone

Kingdoms fall
With the weight of it all

The shepherd lost his grip and

A slowing breath
A sharpened tongue for comfort
Ever the optimist 'til
The deluge hits, but the famine first
The final reckoning
The action and the consequence
You've drawn your breath

A fumbling king
Only chaos he'll bring
An obedient queen
Forced in between
The obscene
