Bare Cove

Just round the bend
Over the railroad tracks
I’m walking the woods
Letting my thoughts unpack again

Crossing the roots
Anchored deep in the ground
Kicking stones
Watching them roll around

I’ve been a little too wired
Or lacking desire
Seeking to be inspired
That’s when it’s time to go
Got to get back to bare cove

Lately it seems
I’m there most every day
Time passing by
Coloring my hours gray
Only one place
Helps me to break away

If I’m a little too tired
In the details too mired
Like I’m feeding a fire
That I no longer want to see grow
I’ve been a little too wired
lacking desire
Seeking to be inspired
That’s when I know it’s time to go
Got to get back to bare cove

When I return
I will reach out for you
Clear in my mind
Seeing my life as new
