What We Have Become

Warming breath within my hands
Footsteps gleaming brighter than
Eyes in the sun - making us go blind
With so much yet to see

So much to see... fading
Breathing deep, within my hands
The light that warms my skin

Still you never told me who I am
I can only try to find myself again

Burning from beneath my skin
I feel the frigid numbness
Deep inside in my mouth...
Another warm breath in my clasped hands

I hear my strange breath
Within my own laugher
Hypnotic and sublime,
Leading me deeper within

Warm breath in my clasped hands
Fading footsteps in sunlit paths
Shifting the delicate balance
Between two handfuls of earth
