Father’s Day
Walks in silence
And understands that I’m just learning
Haven’t caught on yet
He watches, keeps concerning eyes
And tries to keep me out of trouble
Yeah, he’s alright
He’s a great friend of mine
It never dawns on me
The man works awfully hard
He’s looking out for me
And all the while he’s just waiting for the time to care
Guess that’s why he’s there
Every time I go and play my songs
My father always comes along
He watches, sometimes does the lights
And some nights, just sits and drinks club soda
He’s my biggest fan
And it’s the other way around too
It never dawns on me

He’s so proud of me

Guess that’s why he’s there
Every now and then we’ll go and get a movie
Watch it late at night
He watches, and he always falls asleep
And doesn’t see much of the movie
But that’s alright
It’s just nice to have him there
