Last night I dreamed I was a scarecrow
Worn by wind in a garden by the sea
I looked around for miles and miles
Nobody to be found but me
Staring at wood grains on the table
It was momma's long before she passed
Wish I'd been there when everything got desperate
Had the nerve or the heart to ask
Now I'm not lonely
So much as I'm alone
Waking up in a house that ain't a home
It's too late to call now
Too late to chase her down

Windshield time in a square body Chevrolet
Fixed up right when I was fifteen
Wish I'd told him then how much it meant to me
But Daddy never liked my heart on my sleeve
