It's the time of day when the world is gray
I am waiting, waiting for somebody
And I search the skies with my aching eyes
For my special someone, my somebody
Though I know it's wrong
All my senses long
For the man who's strong and can comfort me
And oh, how I long for him to hold me

He'll take me in his arms and show me
How my lonely life can change
Into something strange and splendid

And I scan the square and there's no one there

And the night draws on and my husband's gone
But I don't expect him to care for me
