I smiled for the first time
Today serotonin filled my brain
Then flashbacks reminded
Me of all the sadness I had seen
Retreating back into the dark with guilt heavy in my heart
How could I let such trauma manifest as euphoria

Drag me into the dark
It's safer where you can't
See my scars
Trauma take me away
Hold me close in your
Sweet embrace
Hand in hand we run
Towards the edge of
Oblivion
Headfirst down the abyss
I never thought it would
End like this

I'm so sorry that I forgot
All of the things that
I had lost
I didn't mean to entertain
The idea of happiness
Again
Selfish thoughts of
Moving on how could I
Be so ignorant
Sickly sweet taste of pain
I'll never doubt your love again
I surrender
To the suffering
Can't remember
How to function
Without struggling
