The Chimes at Midnight

Sitting here thinking by a high window
Lights are blinking down below
Some things never let you rest
Smell of her hair spread across my chest

The chimes at midnight greet the air
The chimes at midnight I can hardly bear

Her dark eyes wept
Oh how they shone
I watched her tears flow like wine
She leaned into me
She held me close
I thought I heard her say

We are the ghosts
The chimes at midnight sound a hollow tone

Her walking to me out of the sea

Now I'm ready to disappear

From my high window
