C-Minus

Well, I cheated my way all the way through SC. I originally went on
The business course. I was going to be a business grad, and I took
The first basic math. I think it was about the equivalent of a
Trigonometry. I skated through with the skin of my teeth with a C-
With the promise to the professor that I would find another major
I deserved an F, but he gave me a C- if I said, "Okay, I'm out of
Here." Then I looked around, and I saw the football players and the
Communications majors. I'm like, "I might be dumb, but I'm not
Ignorant." I said, "That's where I want to be." Next thing I know
I'm in a small group communications class with Rodney Pete, and that

Worked out fine for me. I sort of skated my way. It wasn't something
I was really interested in, because I'm in college, and you're
Supposed to have some semblance of an idea of what you want to do
With your life, and I had no idea. It was like I was just wasting
Time there. I had no idea what I wanted to do. All my lyrics tend to
Be very banal, pretty just poo-poo, pee-pee type things. That's sort
Of what my life's been. I just think about things that I know. If
You have a small dick or whatever, you have problems or whatever
These are your problems you have. Your problems are relative to me
I'm not suicidal, so I don't have a big Seattle trip. I'm not really

Any sort of revolutionary and want to save the world, which I think
Is great. There's not any sort of political fugazi rage against the
Machine type vibe. I'm from Newport Beach, California. You know
What's down there? There's blonde chicks, there's convertibles
There's money. It's sort of a Baywatch vibe down there. I'd be posing
To start talking about things that I don't really know about. It
Sounds ridiculous to talk about these things, but it is rock and

Roll. I sort of adhere to that old school sort of kiss philosophy
As stupid as it sounds and as politically irresponsible and incorrect
As it sounds, it's just how it is. I'm that guy. I fell through the
Cracks. I missed that day of school when people were supposed to care
. That's why when you get art out of Orange County, it tends to be the
Watered-down variety. With the whole sky revival that's happening in
Orange County, I'm old enough to remember the bands that used to
Do it really well. It was political and purposeful. The exception
Of bands like No Doubt, they've been doing their trip for years

That's sort of the kind of art that comes out of Orange County

Sort of a watered-down rehash of what's happening. There's
Certainly no Robert Mapplethorpes down there. They quickly get
Rid of those things in the system. Anybody who steps outside the
Line of the conservative values in that county is moved out of
The system, i.e. through policemen, through the schools, or however
They do it. This is sort of like the wasteland for any sort of
Art that comes out of Orange County. You find yourself in Los
Angeles. I'm not saying that we're any kind of new pioneering art
We're sort of a watered-down variety
Of just rock and roll in general
