I confess I might have been wrong
But it's not clear right now
What I could have done differently
I held my principles close
But the distinction
With hubris can be tough
It's easier in retrospect

But either way
My best was not enough
My limits laid bare
I fix what I can
But I'm acutely aware
I shouldn't promise too much

I'll task myself to ignore
The self-defeating predilections
Drawing close inexorably
And idly scrabble among
Lightly floated weights
And pearls of wisdom
Sincere remembrances
But they don't change
