There's a song on The Nylon Curtain that I wrote
For my friends who were veterans of Vietnam
They told me they wanted me to write a song for
Them and I said, "Well, I didn't go to Vietnam
I don't think I have credibility to write a song"
And they said, "We'll tell you what we went through"
There was never a song really written from the soldier's point of view
Not whether it was wrong, whether it was right, it
Was just, "How did you feel when you were over there?"
