Plain and stout

Her hair was not like silk

To the civilized world

Some girls are born holding the aces

Some girls have dreams, some girls get choices
Encouraging voices assure their place in the world

Sometimes for no reason

Some girls know things nobody taught 'em
They wear pretty clothes
Somebody else bought 'em
Some girls have schemes, someone listen
Green eyes that glisten
And a mouth full of pearls
