Melinda was a mousy, living in a little housey
And her life was one of wonderful ease
On the sunny side of 20, with a papa who had plenty

'Twould have done you good to see, Kitty scramble
Up a tree, and her friend Melinda Mouse got free
Now Kitty's mad 'cause mousy is free
