Harbinger of Lucidity

Only fragments remain
A cavernous expanse. once, the brain
There was no other way
The risk of no response was far too great
For this petulant race
Had outgrown its cage

Through sleep
They could now walk behind the scenery
In their dreams, they were awakening
Before we realized.
Many of them were already inside
Crude travelers we did not invite

Ripples cast into our realm
Came crushing tides of prying eyes

We painted Hell for them.
We took the forms and shapes
Of their most horrid fears
To frighten them away
We made them understand
This was a grave mistake
None may come to us
Of lesser plains
And to their bitter end
One of our own was sent
To sedate their souls
And guide them in
