Divese and Lazarus

As it fell out all on one day
Rich Diveras he held a feast
And he invited all his friends
And gentry of the best
And as it fell out all on a day
Lazarus he was so poor
He went and he laid him down and down
Even down at Diveras' hall
And Lazarus laid him down and down
Down at Diveras' hall
Some meat, some drink, brother Diveras
Or surely starve I shall
You are none of mine, brother Lazarus
Lying begging at my door
No meat nor drink shall I give to thee
And so surely starve you shall
And so Diveras sent out his men all
For to whip poor Lazarus away
They had not the power to whip one whip
But they threw their whips away
And so Diveras sent out his hungry dogs
For to bite poor Lazarus away
They had not the power to bite one bite
But they licked his wounds away
And as it fell out all on one day
Lazarus he sickened and died
There came two angels out of heaven
His soul thereto to guide
Rise up, rise up, brother Lazarus
And go along with me
There is a place prepared in heaven
For you to sit upon an angel's knee
And as it fell out all on one day
