Nightlights

Burning in the distance
There's a fire
It's been going on for days

No one there to stop it
Nothing
That can hold the spreading blaze

The small view from my window
Is getting slimmer
Almost covered up in dirt

The sun is lost
Behind the black smoke
Everything looks the same
The colours start to fade

I'm just waiting for the nightlights
To count the passing time
Pushing for my sanity
Struggling to survive
Following the nightlights
Flashing far away
Moving in slow motion
Beyond a violet sky

How long till they'll be here
Will they find me
What will happen when they come

The moon is lost
Behind the black clouds
Everything looks the same
