Before I was a cop, I was G.I. Joe
Deployed in the sand, a hostile land
I watched as the blood continued to flow
The stress was insane, a horrid ordeal
Death and destruction, the madness is real
With nowhere to hide, pain cripples inside
The demon in my soul is all I can feel

Remnants of the past I can clearly see
The humanity I left was a far thing
To survive was to kill, provoked by iron will
Delivering death being all I could be

Hours bleed, my nerves are shot
Screams of the dying haunt my thoughts
I wish I had died on that battlefield
Haunted by a past which I cannot kill
